European Congress of HEU - 25-29 September 2011

The Societas Europea Herpetologica (SEH) and the German Herpetological Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Herpetology und Terrarienkunde DGHT) is organizing an international scientific congress, combining the European Congress of Herpetology de la SEH et les journées herpétologiques allemandes, du 25 au 29 septembre 2011 à Luxembourg et Trèves.

The National Museum of Natural History Luxembourg and University of Trier will kindly host this special international meeting uniting two leading conferences in European Herpetology. The SEH European Congress of Herpetology is held every two years in different European countries since 1979. Deutscher Herpetologentag is equivalent to the annual meeting of the German herpetological society, taking place the 47th time in 2011.

Most of the congress will take place at the Neumünster Abbey cultural centre next to National History Museum of Natural History Luxembourg. Key lectures and workshops will take place during one day at the University of Trier at the Petrisberg, some 40 kilometers from Luxembourg in the Mosel Valley, and will be turn out well with a herp party (transport will be arranged). Pre-registration and call for papers will be launched in September 2010. By then, the second circular will be distributed including further details regarding program, accommodation etc.

Workshops: Tentative focus will be turtle conservation, the amphibian chytrid fungus and phylogeography of European amphibians and reptiles. Additional suggestions are most welcome before 31 August 2010.
